Artist Profile: Claire Cooper

Having lived in Shark Bay for nearly two decades, Claire Cooper’s artistic journey has been shaped by the region’s rich history and the stories woven into its landscape.
With a background in art, design, fashion, and textiles, Claire works across multiple mediums to bring these narratives to life. An active member of the local arts community she has contributed to several significant exhibitions, including ChARTing the Edge, a showcase of printed works featured in the Shark Bay Rendezvous 1818 Festival. She was also the co-creator of MODA1616, an historical fashion recreation project presented as part of the Voyage of Discovery Festival of Shark Bay 1616.
Claire’s work is deeply rooted in human stories, focusing on history and the personal experiences of those who lived through it. Her art seeks to unearth forgotten histories and reintroduce them to contemporary audiences, forging a connection between past and present.
