Artist Profile: Lauren Greatorex

Lauren Greatorex is a proud Malgana, Nyikina, and Jabir Jabir artist whose work is deeply inspired by her cultural heritage and connection to Country.
As a visual storyteller, she uses her art to honour the traditions, landscapes, and histories of her people, creating intricate pieces that reflect the strength and resilience of Aboriginal culture.
Working across various mediums, Lauren blends traditional symbols and contemporary techniques to produce artwork that is both visually striking and rich in meaning. Her practice is heavily influenced by the natural beauty of Gathaagudu (Shark Bay) and the Kimberley, where the ocean, sand dunes, and rugged terrain serve as constant sources of inspiration. Through her use of bold colours, fluid patterns, and layered textures, she captures the essence of these landscapes and the deep spiritual connections they hold. Lauren’s work often explores themes of identity, kinship, and the enduring bond between people and place. She draws on stories passed down through generations, embedding cultural knowledge into each piece to ensure that these narratives continue to be shared and celebrated.
